Nagarjuna’s sports business with Sachin Tendulkar


The IRL (Indian Racing League), called the i1 Super Series which was launched in the month of August 2011, is suppose to start the ride on a huge success of the F1 Indian Grand Prix. The first edition of which will hit the tracks from 8th Jan 2012 till 26th Feb 2012. The league will have 8 teams from 8 cities (Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Pune and Bangalore). It is believed from the sources earlier that, Sachin Tendulkar and Sanjana Reddy together have bought a 26% the Indian Racing League owned by Machdar Motor Sports Company.

Now, another interesting news is that Tollywood star and also a good businessman Akkineni Nagarjuna entering into the new business. As per the reports Nagarjuna is in talks with Sachin Tendulkar and he has sealed the franchise deal for the Hyderabad Team it seems.
Machdar has finalized the racing calendar for 2011-2012 and the series locations (New Delhi, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Kuala Lumpur and Bahrain. The broadcast rights are owned by Ten Sports.
The potential $ 20 m Investors for the 8 teams are:
Mumbai:                Shah Rukh Khan, Jai Mehta, Juhi Chawla
Delhi:                    Dabur’s Mohit Burman along with an another investor
Hyderabad:            Akkineni Nagarjuna, entrepreneur N Prasad
Chennai:               Tony Fernandes, SG Srinivas
Chandigarh:           Yuvraj Singh along with a local businessman
Kolkata:                 Ex-cricketer Sourav Ganguly
Pune:                    Yet to finalise
Bangalore:             Yet to finalise
