Bollywood’s original superstar Rajesh Khanna died today (July 18th, 2012) at his residence in Mumbai.He was only 69.He is survived by his estranged wife Dimple Kapadia and two daughters Twinkle and Rinke.Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is his son-in-law.
The actor Rajesh Khanna was admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital last week following kidney problems and low blood pressure.
The actor is hailed as India’s first superstar after 15 consecutive solo super hits between 1969 and 1972, a record that remains unbroken.
The Bollywood industry expressed grief at the death of the first superstar of Bollywood. "It is a terrible day for the industry and all of us," actress Saira Banu said.
He made his film debut with "Aakhri Khat" in 1966.
